Cristiano Ronaldo will confront Maurizio Sarri when he returns to his club after the international duty.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 99th international goal in Portugal’s 2-0 win against Luxembourg. The victory saw the Selecao cement their place in the next year’s European championship.
Before flying away from Italy, the Portuguese was involved in an on-field conflict with his manager. During Juve’s match against Milan, Sarri deemed it fit to take off his star man Ronaldo. But the star man did not. As a result, the 34-year old threw tantrums not expected at his age or level.
Ever since the incident, Sarri and Ronaldo, especially the latter, have been a subject of debate among the fans, players, and managers. While the number-7 agreed with his manager’s reasoning behind his substitution, he accused the press of exaggerating the matter.
“You know that I don’t talk much to the press, but you always have to put one between me and the coach to create controversy.
“With Juve we won, and we are first, with the national team we have qualified for Euro 2020. Now I can think of returning as soon as possible to full fitness,” Ronaldo said.
Recently, reports have emerged that the 34-year old is looking to mend his relationship with the Italian boss. As per Calciomercato, the former Real Madrid man is planning to buy dinner for all his teammates upon his return to Italy.
Cristiano Ronaldo turned 34 in February.
