Raphael Guerreiro has backed a Borussia Dortmund teammate to reach, or perhaps even surpass, the levels of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo narrowly missed out on topping the Serie A goalscoring charts last season, consequently also losing out on winning the European Golden Boot.

Ronaldo netted 31 times in Serie A in 2019/20 and finished second behind Immobile, who notched up 36 strikes.

At 35 years old, the former Real Madrid man continues to put up extraordinary numbers and is a perfect model for consistency for the rising stars in the football world.

Jadon Sancho is one such player who has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years. He was the standout performer for Borussia Dortmund last season, chipping in 17 goals and as many assists to help his side finish second in the Bundesliga.

Tipped as one of the biggest stars for the future, the 20-year old is reportedly on the radar of several clubs, most notably Manchester United.

And Raphael Guerreiro believes Sancho has what it takes to become ‘as good as’, or even better than Ronaldo.

“Jadon is still very young but has already played an outstanding role for us in the past two years. He has the gift of being able to make the difference – with passes, dribbles, or goals,” said Guerreiro, speaking to Bild.

“Cristiano is one of the best in the world. To ever be as good as him, Jadon still has a lot of work to do, a lot.

“He has everything you need, though, to be just as good as Cristiano, maybe even better someday.”
