It may not have been his night goal-wise at least, but Ronaldo still entered the international history books for Portugal yet again.
Cristiano Ronaldo has surpassed Xavi Hernandez to become the third player in football history with the most victories in international football.
The Juventus superstar registered his 101st win for Portugal after helping the team beat Croatia 3-2 on Tuesday. He couldn’t get on the scoresheet but still grabbed headlines with another impressive stat.
Bleacher Report announced Ronaldo’s 101 wins saw him enter the top three list of players with the most international wins. Next up are former Real Madrid teammates Iker Casillas (121 wins) and Sergio Ramos (130).

Considering Cristiano plans to play in the 2022 World Cup, Casillas’ record is definitely in his grasp. Especially with this young and promising squad of Portuguese players by his side.
But beating Ramos for the overall record will be tough ask unless the Real Madrid skipper retires from international football before Ronaldo.
29 victories separate the pair at the time of writing.
