A Ferencvaros midfielder reveals the superstar rejected his shirt swap offer as he was in a bad mood after the Champions League match.
Juventus played Ferencvaros prior to the international break in matchday 3 of Champions League Group G.
The match marked the return of Cristiano Ronaldo following a short-term absence after contracting COVID-19. He had missed the opening game against FC Barcelona, and the Hungarian side were also his first opponents in Europe this season.
Juve emerged 4-1 victorious but, surprisingly, none of the goals came from Ronaldo.
The Champions League record goalscorer did set-up the team’s first goal but he remained largely unimpressive in the match.
For those who know Ronaldo, he has an unending and unparalleled desire for finding the net, and his mood at the end of 90 minutes at Ferenc Puskas Stadium apparently reflected that.
“He seemed to me to be a bit p*ssed off and angry,” Ferencvaros star Marcel Heister revealed, speaking to Goal and SPOX.
“He just waved off disparagingly when asked about [swapping] his shirt. Maybe it’s because he didn’t score a goal against us.
“Or maybe because I took the ball from him when he tried to dribble. There was a photograph of it, I posted it on Instagram. It was the most beautiful experience of my life!”
