The Red Devils star has added another prize to his set of individual trophies from the last season.
Cristiano Ronaldo has won the 2021-22 Goal of the Season award at Manchester United.
An unstoppable screamer against Tottenham claimed the majority of the votes.
Following a sublime pass from Fred, Ronaldo took a few steps before unleashing his strike from 30 yards out. The ball found its way into the top corner of the net, beating Hugo Lloris, who tried to prevent CR7 from scoring the opener.
Ronaldo went on to make his first hat-trick of the last season that day as United defeated Tottenham 3-2. The goal fended off competition from Ronaldo’s superb volley in the reverse fixture against Spurs, which became the runner-up.
This is the fourth time Ronaldo has won the Man Utd Goal of the Season award since its introduction in 2006. Prior to his new triumph, CR7 was tied with his former teammate Wayne Rooney, who won the prize three times.
The award comes after the 37-year-old won United’s Player of the Year award on Saturday. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner maintained his form despite United’s struggles last season. Let’s see if he can find his place in Erik ten Hag’s plans in the Red Devils’ next campaign.
