Cristiano has done an interview and opened up about his family, including his late father.
in an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, the great CR7 talks candidly about his relationship with his girlfriend, children, mother, and late father.
The interview is scheduled to be aired on British television network ITV, but the Daily mail has serialised it.
Clips which have been released, show an emotional Ronaldo as Morgan reveals a clip of his father expressing his pride in the son he hardly knew.
When his father was asked about the pride he has in his son, he simply answered: “Yes a lot.”
Ronaldo had never seen the footage before, and emotionally and tearfully said:
“I never saw the video. I never saw that video. Unbelievable.”
“I think the interview would be funny, but I didn’t expect to cry.”
“But I never saw these images. I don’t know where you… I have to have these images to show my family.”
On his relationship with his father, he added:
“But I really don’t know my father 100 percent. He was a drunk person. I never spoke with him, like a normal conversation. It was hard.”
Ronaldo was only 20 when his father died, he had barely spread his wings in the footballing world and still played at Manchester United.
“To be the number one and he don’t see nothing, and he don’t see me receive awards, to see what I became.”
He goes onto his family including his mother Dolores.
“My family see, my mum, my brothers, even my old son, but my father, he didn’t see nothing, and it was… he died young.”
Ronaldo gives a lot of credit to his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez for her support through some telling times. He even talks of one day making her Mrs. Ronaldo.
“She helped me so much. Of course I’m in love for her.”
“We’ll be (married) one day, for sure. It’s my mum’s dream as well. So, one day. Why not?”
“It’s great. She’s my friend. We have conversations. I open the heart for her and she open the heart for me.”
The support he is referencing os perhaps what the Juventus player says was very embarrassing and difficult moments in his career. the allegation of rape.
“It makes you feel so bad.”
“One day I was at home in the living room with my girlfriend and then the news they speak about Cristiano Ronaldo, this and that.”
“You listen to you kids coming down the stairs and you change the channel because I was embarrassed, I feel embarrassed.”
‘He doesn’t see me receive awards.’
