Unable to preserve the Old Lady’s domestic dominion, the former midfielder was relieved of his managerial duties after less than a year of his appointment.

Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a farewell message to Andrea Pirlo following the manager’s dismissal from Juventus.

Juventus announced the departure of Pirlo on Friday morning, hours before confirming a reunion with Massimiliano Allegri.

The inexperienced manager’s sacking did not exactly come as surprise, for the club’s Serie A winning streak came to a halt with him at the helm and they suffered another disappointing elimination from the Champions League.

Largely inconsistent throughout 2020/21, Juve finished fourth in the league standings while their European journey was ended early by Porto in the first knockout stage. The ex-Italy international, though, left his former club with Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italian winners’ medal.

Ronaldo, who won his first Capocannoniere award under the guidance of Pirlo, scoring 29 goals in 21 Serie A outings, takes leave of his former manager in an Instagram story.

“Thanks Maestro, it was an honor to be trained by you,” the Portuguese forward’s message, accompanied by an applause emoji, read.
