Voller hailed Inter Milan for the remarkable job of catching up with Juventus in Serie A and believes they are slight favorites against Bayer Leverkusen.
Inter Milan takes on the challenge of Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League. Both sides have an equal chance of progressing in the restructured knockout format.
Rudi Voller played for Bayer back in the day, and begrudgingly accepts Inter are favorites for the affair. He pointed towards their performance against Getafe to make his point.
“Inter are the slight favorites and we respect them, but I think we’re on a relatively even footing. I watched their 2-0 win over Getafe and there were a few early chances for the Spaniards, but after going 1-0 up, I knew Inter would qualify,” Voller told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
“This is a team that is complete in every area and all their players really know how to play the ball. If Inter take the lead, it’s going to be extremely difficult for us to break them down, but we’ll see.”
Voller was full of praise for the work done by Antonio Conte. He hailed how Inter does not concede, and score goals with ease. He especially had kind words for prolific forwards, Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.
“We must be realistic, we know Inter are a strong side and finished just one point off Juventus in Serie A. There is no comparison with Rangers, as the Nerazzurri have so much quality, a great coach in Antonio Conte, they concede very few goals and their strikers are so well-suited.”
“Romelu Lukaku’s strength with the pace of Lautaro Martinez means they can hurt anyone on the counter. We know it’s going to be difficult for us to progress.”
