Rui Costa: AC Milan will be back!

Former AC Milan star Rui Costa believes the Rossoneri will return to the top.

AC Milan are playing in great form since the start of 2019, while their former star Rui Costa backs them to secure a Champions League football for the next season.

“I feel much nostalgia and happiness. The years at Milan, in which we always won, were beautiful. Before I was thinking about how 13 years have passed since I played with these guys, I immediately decided to accept the invitation.

“There was so much magic in that team, we were a group founded on a unique friendship. It was a fantastic generation,” he said via Calcio Mercato.

Rui Costa praised his former teammate Gennaro Gattuso, who according to the Portuguese is doing an incredible job.

AC Milan have lost only one of their last 11 games across all competitions. They are now fourth in Serie A, two points behind Inter – the only team that managed to beat the Rossoneri in the last two months.

“Today’s Milan? Gattuso is doing an incredible, tremendous job. It seemed that the team could no longer reach anything this year until October-November.

Mancini doesn’t regret leaving Atalanta for Roma

The footballer wants a chance to play in the UEFA Champions League with a team that can fight for the top places in the Italian Lega Serie A.

“Instead, it is recovering and doing well. The derby does not cancel what they did in recent months. It is a team with young talent and soon Milan will return to the top to fight for the Scudetto and in Europe,” Rui Costa added.

Rui Costa spent five years with the Rossoneri in the period between 2001 and 2006. He won five major trophies with the club, including the Serie A and the Champions League.

He was one of the greatest attacking midfielders of his generation and was part of the Portuguese ‘golden generation’ with Luis Figo, Nuno Gomes and Pauleta.

The former AC Milan star also hailed his compatriot and Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo.
