Arsenal are reportedly willing to offload up to nine players in this summer’s transfer market to boost funds for Mikel Arteta.
Fresh from Arsenal’s FA Cup success on Saturday, Mikel Arteta would be forgiven for taking his eye off the ball.
The Spaniard has made a positive start to his tenure, winning 16 and losing just six of his 28 games. The defense is also looking sharper, and youngsters are definitely getting chances. So all signs suggest Arsenal have a manager to take them forward. But this is still just the beginning of a long road.
An early Europa League and an eight-place finish in the Premier League proves there is still work to do. The question is, how will Arteta proceed?
According to the Daily Mail, he’ll do so by potentially selling up to nine players. These may include Alexandre Lacazette, Hector Bellerin, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Sokratis, Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira, Sead Kolasinac, Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi.
The Arsenal boss needs to build funds this summer with Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey at the top of his transfer list. He’ll also like a new center-back if possible.
Signing Dani Ceballos on a permanent contract from Real Madrid is on the agenda as well following the Spaniard’s impressive loan spell in north London.
Barcelona outcast Philippe Coutinho may be another key target on Arteta’s transfer list this summer.
