Barcelona have reportedly agreed personal terms with Lautaro Martinez but the signing could depend on whether they manage to sell Phillippe Coutinho.
According to a report, Barcelona have edged closer to signing Lautaro Martinez but the transfer itself would depend on them selling Coutinho first.
The Argentine striker has been a target for the Catalan giants for much of the season. The 22-year-old has scored 17 goals in 38 games in all competitions for Inter this term.
ESPN claim that Lautaro has reached a verbal agreement to move to Camp Nou. However, any move remains dependent on Inter agreeing to sell their star man.
Also, the report adds that Inter remain adamant in demanding cash in full from the Catalan giants. Barcelona have previously tried to use swap deals to tempt Inter but the Nerrazzuri appear not to be interested in such.
Therefore, Barca’s hopes of landing the youngster this summer hinge on who they can get off their wage bill. Club-record signing Coutinho is viewed as the player that could bring in the most money.
The report adds that Barcelona acknowledge they are likely going to have to accept a huge loss on the £145m they paid to Liverpool in January 2018 for the Brazilian.
Still on the hopes of signing Lautaro, the club are also hoping to raise funds by selling Nelson Semedo, Ivan Rakitic and possibly Ousmane Dembele.
It is quite the opposite of recent statements of Inter CEO insisting Martinez would not join Barcelona.
