According to reports from Turkey, Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu is a £36m target for Barcelona this summer.
Soyuncu impressed in the heart of the Foxes defence last season alongside Jonny Evans.
Brendan Rodgers side narrowly missed out on a top-four spot and perhaps the Barcelona target had a hand in that.
Soyuncu saw a red card in his side’s 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth last month and eventually missed Leicester’s final games of the season.
Regardless, Barcelona have set their sights on the Turkish international and could even make a swoop for the 24-year-old this summer.
This is according to Turkish outlet NTV Spor who claim that the Spanish giants are looking to improve their defensive options. Barcelona will try and test Leicester’s resolve with a £36m bid for the defender.
Gerard Pique is now 33, and still Barcelona’s best defender. Clement Lenglet has impressed at Camp Nou, but World Cup winner Samuel Umtiti has struggled with injuries in recent seasons.
Beyond that, it appears that the club are willing to let Jean-Clair Todibo leave, after a successful loan spell at Schalke.
At 24, Soyuncu is yet to hit his prime and was even criticized in the second half of the season after a drop in form.
The big Turk was linked to Manchester City last summer but any of that seems unlikely with the club’s recent purchase of Nathan Ake.
With Maguire leaving Leicester for a world-record fee and the Foxes demanding high for Ben Chilwell, it’s safe to say a £36m offer night not tempt them to sell Soyuncu.
