Rumor: Chilwell to push for Leicester exit to join Chelsea

According to a report, Ben Chilwell will tell Leicester he wants to leave the club as the left-back eyes a move to Chelsea this summer.

Ben Chilwell could be taking matters into his own hands as he looks to complete a move to Chelsea this summer.

Frank Lampard is reportedly in the market for a left-back as Emerson and Alonso have failed to convince. To that effect, Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta had to be deployed as a make-shift left-back for much of the season.

Over the past few months, reports claimed Ben Chilwell has been identified as the solution to the Blues’ struggles on the left side of defence.

More recently, Chelsea were reported to have calmed their interest in the Leicester star after being quoted around £60 million for the 23-year-old.

With Leicester now missing out on the Champions League, all of that scenario could change.

The Mirror claims Ben Chilwell is ready to ask Leicester for an exit to ensure a move to Chelsea becomes less complicated.

The report claims with or without Champions League football, the 23-year-old sees his long-term future at Stamford Bridge than at the King Power Stadium.

Chilwell is looking to tie down a spot in the England squad and believes he stands a good chance of doing that with Chelsea.

Rodgers said recently he was “relaxed” about the future of the 23-year-old.

It was precisely the same phrase Rodgers used last summer when Manchester United came calling for Harry Maguire.

Should Chilwell push for an exit, all that’ll be left is for both sides to agree a transfer fee ahead of a potential move.
