Ronald Koeman has reportedly rejected the overtures of Barcelona to replace Ernesto Valverde as their manager.
Koeman the current Netherlands manager and former Barcelona player has been linked with the job before.
Current Barca boss Valverde is coming under increasing pressure after his side lost to Atletico Madrid in dramatic fashion.
The recent Spanish Supercopa semi-final between the teams saw Barca throw away a lead. Atletico turned around a 2-1 deficit to win 2-3 in five-minutes of madness.
Valverde has been under pressure all season even though Barcelona are top of La Liga and undefeated in the Champions League.
At the Camp Nou, you must not only win but do so convincingly. You must not only be the best but be the best in style.
Of the four, Valverde has only managed two. His side is far from convincing, and most certainly lack the style and flamboyance of the teams of old.
Koeman came from the Barcelona generation led by none other than Johan Cruyff. The Dutchman is considered the ideal tactician to bring everything together in Catalonia.
But reports out of Spain are suggesting that he has said no to his old club.
So if Barcelona sack Valverde now, Koeman will not be the man to take over.
