Depay is rumoured to be on Inter Milan’s radar as the Antonio Conte revolution continues.
According to French sports paper L’Equipe, Memphis Depay is attracting a lot of interest. Inter Milan are apparently keen to acquire his services.
In a candid interview, Depay makes no secret of his desire to reach the very pinnacle of football.
But it appears the one-time Dutch prodigy who arrived at Old Trafford heralded as the next superstar and failed miserably. Has learned his lesson.
It was rumored that Everton turned down the opportunity to sign the player. Hard to believe given they were in the market for a pacy winger / forward.
Depay ticks all those boxes. Plus he has been in phenomenal form ever since he exchanged Manchester for Lyon.
The 25-year-old has been at Lyon since 2017. When Jose Mourinho decided that enough was enough at Manchester united and sanctioned the sale of the Dutch winger.
There are no arguments, that his time at United was disappointing, to say the least. Depay will be the first to admit that. While he has been adamant had he had more time on the pitch he would have done better?
He is the first to admit not all was right in his attitude and his mindset, and he struggles with the sheer size of the burden of being a Manchester United player.
From all accounts though, the Dutchman is very happy in France. He still has things he wants to achieve with Lyon.
“Everyone can talk about my future, but I’m in Lyon.”
“I want to give my best here.”
“There are many interesting things ahead of me: the Champions League, the European Football Championship with Holland. ”
“So, no stress, some interest will come.”
United do have a buy back clause in his contract from the sale to Lyon. Which means they will get the first refusal on signing him if and when he departs Lyon.
