Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade says he would like to sign Franck Ribery.

At the end of last season, both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery walked away from Bayern Munich and the Allianz Arena.

Since then Robben has announced his retirement from football. Ribery, on the other hand, has been remarkably quiet about his future.

According to Goal.com Fiorentina’s sporting director, Daniele Prade would love to sign the Frenchman but believes there is a lot of competition.

Unlike his former teammate Robben, Ribery has stated he wishes to continue playing. Retirement is not something he is considering right now.

In fact, he apparently has several offers on the table. Due to the fact he is a free agent, the transfer windows do not affect any interested parties.

At 36 years of age, he’s not looking likely to be offered a long term contract, but such is his pedigree and the marketability of his brand, he likely to command an impressive salary.

Prade who has spoken publicly on numerous occasions of his admiration and desire to work with the player. He has even said he is awaiting a response but knows there is competition.
On Sunday after Fiorentina’s victory against Monza in the Coppa Italia Prade said:

“We really like Ribery.”

“But like all great players, they are experiencing a moment of reflection.”

“We would like to have him with us.”

“But he has very important financial offers and we cannot guarantee him tens of millions like the Arab or Russian teams.”

“But if he wanted to continue playing at high levels, Florence and Fiorentina would wait for him with open arms.”

“At this moment the deal is not close, there has been no progress. If he doesn’t come, we will buy another player.”

Some believe or maybe dream that the deal is imminent.

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella has even commented on the player.

He said:

“I want functional players, if it’s big names, it’s even better.”

“Ribery is all this, I believe it is right for everyone.”

“I am ready to offer a dinner to the management if they can bring a player with a great record.”
