Rumour: Lisbon offer Fernandes Real Madrid

Sporting Lisbon, has offered Bruno Fernandes to Real Madrid.

Sporting had planned on cashing in on Bruno Fernandes this summer. He had the most amazing season.

Played 53, scored 32 and 18 assists. Not only amazing statistics but from a midfielder makes them almost mind-blowing.

He has not started too badly this season either, played three, scored one and one assist.

The player made it clear at the end of the season, he wanted a new challenge, and sought to test himself at the very pinnacle of European football.

The club has not tried to stop the player. On the contrary, they have accepted the fact, but have a valuation that they consider non-negotiable.

In the clubs eye, after a season like 2018/19, a repeat is unlikely so Fernandes stock will not get any better than this for Sporting.

Here comes the problem. There was rumoured to be interest from Manchester United, that’s all it was rumour and talk. Nothing ever seemed to materialise.

If they had sold Paul Pogba things might have been different but that was not the case.

Then there was Spurs. Apparently agreed on a fee with Sporting, but then nothing. No deal ever seemed to come to fruition.

Was it all just talk again from the club to try and elevate the price of their player?

Lisbon has never been much of a spending club, but more always a selling club. Problem is, that Fernandes is their only real player of significant value this summer.

According to AS, the powers that be at Sporting Lisbon have now offered the player to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Madrid has publicly failed in their attempts to sign Paul Pogab, Donny van de Beek and are having little luck with Neymar.

So a made to measure alternative is Bruno Fernandes, and at a bargain price in comparison to Neymar and Pogba of 70 million Euros.

If Madrid does fail to land Neymar, Bruno Fernandes to Real Madrid may be a possibility between now and September 2nd.

The player, who is the club captain, has already said his goodbyes and wants to follow in his hero Cristiano Ronaldo’s footsteps.
