Fernando Llorente is on the verge of joining Napoli.
After trying all summer to convince Mauro Icardi and his wife Wanda Nara, that they havea future in Naples. It appears that Carlo Ancelotti has decided to take the free transfer of Llorente instead.
According to sport-english, the offer to Inter of 65 million Euros is still on the table for Icardi. But negotiations with Llorente and his advisors are taking place so a back deal is in place.
Llorente at 34 years of age, currently finds himself without a club after his contract at Tottenham Hotspurs expired.
He has a wealth of experience at the highest level. He started his career in his native Spain, playing at Athletic Bilbao. At Bilbao he played 327 games, scoring 111 goals and having 36 assists.
This form prompted a move to Juventus, where he made less than a hundred appearances and managed less than 30 goals and only 10 assists.
This form prompted a return to Spain, where he endured a short and somewhat mediocre time at Sevilla.
A player of Llorents imposing physical stature was always going to ply his trade in the tough English Premier Leauge.
He was snapped up by Swansea City. There the Spaniard rediscovered some of his form of old in Wales. Although it was a short stay, he managed 15 goals in 35 games.
After only one year, Swansea was offered triple their money by Spurs, who signed him for 15 million Euros on a two-year deal.
Llorente has managed 63 appearances for Spurs, and many were from the bench. He scored 13 goals and added 6 assists.
For right now he is trying to tie up a deal that would take him to Napoli. Where Carlo Ancelotti is keen to add more firepower to his side.
