Rumour: United and Milan to do battle for Dias

Manchester United and AC Milan are set to battle for the signature of Ruben Dias.

The summer transfer window has only just closed, and the plans have begun for this winter and next summer already.

The last two games have seen Victor Lindelof make costly errors, while his new defensive partner Harry Maguire has not put a foot wrong.

After another two points dropped against Southampton at the weekend. Even Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could not hide the truth when asked.

Lindelof had lost two aerial duels in the last two games, and both had cost United goals.

According to The Mirror, Manchester United have already sent out scouts to find another defender.

It is understood United had scouts at Benfica’s recent game against Braga. They were there casting an eye on several potential targets. But the priority was to see the talent of Dias.

Dias even at the tender age of 22, already has 10 international senior caps for Portugal and played for Befic’s first  90 times. The centre-back has also scored 8 goals and has 3 assists to his name.

United have also offloaded two defenders this summer, in Chris Smalling and Matteo Darmian.

Daniel James, Manchester United, Premier League

Daniel James almost gave up on football

Manchester United's new signing, Daniel James, spent seven years in the Hull Academy, but one day he almost gave up on football.

Plus there are two more set to leave next summer when their contracts expire, in Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.

Now according to Football-Italia, AC Milan also have an eye on Ruben Dias.

In a recent interview, International Champions Cup chief Charlie Stillitano, says Milan have told him of their interest in the player.

Stillitano said:

“Ruben Dias is a player on the radar of big clubs.”

“Paolo Maldini told me about him as a player Milan like.”

Milan did add centre-back Leo Duarte from Flamengo to their ranks this summer, but given the opportunity and the right deal would like to further reinforce their ranks.

Manchester United and AC Milan find themselves in similar situations right now. They are arguably the greatest teams of their respective leagues facing a crisis of immense proportions.

It will be interesting to see them go toe to toe in an attempt to continue their rebuilds as they search for the right talent to bring back the glory days.
