Ajax manager Ten Hag is quietly confident the midfielder will still be at Ajax when the transfer window closes.

According to Goal.com, Donny Van de Beek’s potential move to Real Madrid is not going to happen.

There has been confirmed interest in the Dutch international. The player himself stating that Madrid and Ajax were in talks about a possible transfer.

The 22-year-old was deemed a suitable alternative to Paul Pogba. Who Madrid had appeared at the time to have given up on luring to the Santiago Bernabeu.

In a recent interview, Erik Ten Hag said of the players ability and any potential move:

“Van de Beek only dedicates himself to playing.”

“I guess and I hope that he stays with us this season.”

“Otherwise, I will hear from Marc Overmars.”

“I would prefer him to stay at Ajax because I wouldn’t have him as an opponent and Ajax would stay strong”

“But, no, of course, when it’s all settled.”

“If he moves to Madrid, I am really happy for him.”

“I think he deserves it. He’s a great player. Then I will go see him in Spain!”

“I am pretty sure he has the ability.”

“I think he showed it last season in the Champions League, especially in the knockout rounds.”

“I think he has shown to the world and everyone in Europe he has the ability to play at that level.”

During last season, Van de Beek made 57 appearances for Ajax, scored 17 goals and made 13 assists.

It is clear why Madrid see him as a viable alternative to Pogba, who scored 16 goals and made 11 assists in 47 games. Plus he would cost around a third of what Pogba would.

The question now is Madrid need one more player. a creative goalscoring maestro. If it’s not Van de Beek, then who?

Will Manchester United sell Pogba without a replacement?

Or is Neymar really going to end up at Real Madrid?
