The former Barcelona legend says that Chelsea should appoint Frank Lampard as the club’s new manager but asked to help him with experienced hands.

Frank Lampard is on the verge of being appointed the club’s new manager. The former player is going to replace Maurizio Sarri who has joined Juventus.

Indeed, the appointment is going to really change fans’ feelings towards the club. The club’s legend has had a great introduction to management during his time with Derby. In just one season, he has seen his stock rise and a former player feels that Lampard is the right candidate.

The former Chelsea and Barcelona manager, Ruud Gullit is confident that Frank Lampard is the perfect appointment at Stamford Bridge. However, as reported by the Standard, Gullit wants Chelsea to help Lampard by giving his an experienced coaching team.

The Dutchman, who spent three seasons as a club and won the FA Cup in 1997 as a player/manager, says that Lampard needs all the help he can get.

“Look, he has done nothing yet as a coach,” Gullit said. “[But] they gave me this opportunity as well and we won, so that has nothing to do with it.

“I think it is important for Chelsea that they can have something who they can relate to and I hope he gets the right people he needs around him who can help him.

“[He needs to] make sure that he gets something with experience of managing and coaching teams. That would be the best thing for him.”

After a very impressive introduction to football management at Derby County, Lampard is expected to do a great job at his former club.

However, it is not going to be that simple. The club’s transfer ban means that Frank Lampard will initially have to rely on the academy players. Moreover, some of the players sent out on loan last season might be given a chance to impress.
