RB Leipzig’s Marcel Sabitzer believes his Austria team-mate Marko Arnautovic can become a key man at Manchester United if he were to sign for the club
The 29-year-old striker is being strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford this January with United coach Jose Mourinho keen to bolster his attacking options.
Since his arrival from Stoke City in 2017, Arnautovic impressive performances at West Ham have captured the interest of a number of big European clubs.
The Austria international’s agent revealed that a winter exit from West Ham could go ahead in order to pursue Champions League football.
And Sabitzer reckons Arnautovic is ready to take the next step in his career.
“Marko is a great guy,” said Sabitzer, according to beinSPORTS.
“I get along well with him and we have played together for a long time with the national team. We are good friends and once went on holiday together. I like him a lot and I think he feels the same way about me.
“Everybody can see that he has athletic qualities. He had a lack of maturity and luck in Germany and I think he knows that.
“But his performances in England the past few years have demonstrated his real class and I can see the same in terms of the national team.
“That’s why I believe that he can make another step forward and play a major role there [at Manchester United]. I cross my fingers for him.”
Arnautovic has five goals in 13 appearances in the Premier League this season.
