Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will both leave Liverpool should they be offered a deal they can’t turn down, claims John Barnes.
John Barnes would not be surprised if the duo of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane do leave Liverpool at some point.
The former Red has seen the Merseyside outfit let several top players go over the years.
Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho have both headed for Barcelona in big money moves since 2014.
The current Liverpool side has grown to be one with superstars, with the duo of Salah and Mane leading that regard upfront.
They have led the Reds boasting one of the most lethal attacking frontline in Europe and of course other sides have shown interest in their services.
Though it was later debunked, recent rumors initially claimed Salah rejected an offer from Real Madrid back in 2018. For Mane, the same Real Madrid alongside rivals Barcelona have at one point been linked with the Senegalese.
And Barnes has warned those at Anfield that either of them could seek an exit with money talking in the modern game.
“Every club is a selling club in modern football. A club like Barcelona was forced to sell Neymar. Barnes told WION.
“What attracts footballers today is the salaries that they are going to get. Whoever the player may be, whether it be Sadio Mane or Mo Salah, if anyone is offered a million pounds per week by any club, then they will join that team regardless of their quality or standing, that is the reality of modern football.”
“We have had so many fantastic players leave the Liverpool – Fernando Torres, Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho. It is great that Liverpool have a bit of muscle now because of the on-field success, but ultimately players come and players go.”
Well, another ex-Liverpool player has a different opinion on Salah and Mane.
