Bayern Munich director Hasan Salihamidzic insists that the club focuses on winning during the season and not contract negotiations.
Bayern Munich has several of their top players approaching the final year of their contracts.
All too often Europe’s elite likes to tie down their players during the penultimate year of their deals. This tends to avoid any headaches or unwanted distractions.
Bayern Munich has five first-team regulars in this very situation.
Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller, Javi Martinez, David Alaba, and Thiago Alcantara have deals that end in June 2021.
The Bavarian giants have a different approach, and director Salihamidzic insists this works for the club.
In an interview reported by Goal, he acknowledges the trends but believes that his clubs tried and tested method keeps the focus on winning.
“We will certainly have talks, but in the next few weeks we will concentrate on the competitions.”
“It’s important that we are totally focused on the games in the upcoming weeks. That’s where the focus lies.”
“We have had a good experience with concentrating on the competitions first and that’s what we will do.”
“But like I said before, we will have talks, the players know about it and there are no problems.”
