Argentina boss Jorge Sampaoli has praised the connection that Cristian Pavon has made with Lionel Messi after their 4-0 win against Haiti
Messi provided another inspiration performance on Tuesday night to score his sixth hat-trick for Argentina, as well as setting up Sergio Aguero for their fourth goal.
Yet, what pleased Sampaoli the most was the way Pavon was able to combine with Messi to assist the Barcelona star for his third goal.
“Cristian is a player who has very special characteristics for communicating with Messi,” said Sampaoli, according to Goal.
“He goes to space, he is offering all the time and he has an important dynamic.”
Aguero, who missed the final part of Manchester City’s season after undergoing keyhole surgery in Barcelona, returned to competitive action and netted the final goal of the game.
“Aguero and Pavon came on very well,” added Sampaoli.
“Haiti didn’t have so many players behind the ball and that boosted their chances.”
La Albiceleste will next face Israel in their final warm-up game on June 9, before travelling to Russia to face Iceland in their World Cup opener a week later.
