Sampdoria forward Manolo Gabbiadini has tested positive for Coronavirus, the Serie A side announced this afternoon.
In some sad news, Gabbiadini becomes the second Serie A player to be diagnosed with coronavirus.
Sampodria released a statement on their club website regarding the situation this afternoon.
“UC Sampdoria announce that player Manolo Gabbiadini has tested positive for Coronavirus-COVID-19,” read a statement.
“He has a slight fever, but is doing well. The club is activating all the procedures of isolation laid out in the rules.”
The former Southampton man was also quick to react on social media, saying he is fine and urged fans to be careful in this period.
“I too tested positive for Coronavirus,” wrote Gabbiadini on Twitter.
“I want to thank all those who wrote to me, as I already received so many messages. I want to reassure you that I’m fine, don’t worry.
“Follow the rules, stay at home and it’ll all get sorted out.”
The 28-year-old played for an hour against Hellas Verona at the weekend, so the team will also activate isolation procedures and undergo thorough testing.
