Samuel Eto’o believes in Mohamed Salah’s great potential and urged him to move to Barcelona should the opportunity to join come.

Salah’s incredible exploits in the past two years at Liverpool have made him one of the world’s renown footballers. He’s shattered records and inspired the Reds to back-to-back Champions League finals.

The Egyptian forward has also bagged an impressive 71 goals in 104 matches in a Liverpool jersey. He even scored the opener in the club’s 2-0 Champions League final win over Tottenham in Madrid.

Naturally, Salah’s performances have captured the interest of clubs from all over Europe. Among them are La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, who have reportedly been keeping tabs on him for more than a year.

But Eto’o is one of very few players who can boast on their resume that they’ve played for both Real and Barcelona. So, there is literally nobody better placed than the Cameroonian to advise Salah on who to pick.

“If he has the chance to play in the best league of the world, which is the Spanish one, he has to sign for Barcelona,” said Eto’o, according to BBC.

“Mo has everything to be one of the best players in the world.”

The 38-year-old started out his European career at Real after joining the club’s youth academy in 1997. Although he made just three appearances for the first-team before leaving in 2000.

Eto’o truly made his mark at Barcelona, whom he joined in 2005 from RCD Mallorca, and scored 130 goals in 198 games.

“Barcelona would be a better fit,” he added.

“Real gave me the opportunity to leave Africa but I know Barcelona’s style and I think it would be better for him.”

For now, though, Salah’s focus will be on Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign. He helped them win their opening game 1-0 on Friday against Zimbabwe.

The Pharaohs will be back in action on Wednesday against DR Congo in Group A.
