Samuel Umtiti has no intention of leaving Barcelona in the summer despite growing speculations linking him with a move to the Premier League.

The Catalans have reportedly deemed Umtiti surplus to requirements following another injury-riddled season.

According to recent reports in Spain, the injury-prone center-back has found himself on a list of 12 players Barca will look to offload in the summer to cut the wage bill.

Umtiti had quickly established himself as an indispensable first-team player upon his €25million arrival from Lyon in 2016.

But, a series of injury setbacks over the course of the past few years have restricted the Frenchman’s playing time, seeing him fall behind Clement Lenglet in the pecking order.

With the recent senior breakthrough of Ronald Araujo, competition for places has increased at the Camp Nou, which, however, doesn’t scare Umtiti.

As per Diario Sport, the 26-year-old wants to see out his contract at Barcelona that’s due to expire in 2023 and is ready to neglect offers from the Premier League.

Arsenal, West Ham United, and Everton have all taken an interest in Umtiti, with his former employers Lyon and resurgent Serie A giants AC Milan lurking in the shadows.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta sees the left-footed defender as an upgrade to the players he currently has at his disposal.

Umtiti appears to possess defensive attributes the Spaniard is crying out for, but he is ready to upset the former Pep Guardiola’s assistant by committing himself to Barcelona.

Despite the recent struggles, the man, who has 116 appearances for Barca to his name, is confident of fighting his way back in contention for a starting place under Setien.
