Alexis Sanchez could be facing another spell on the sidelines as he picked up a muscle injury against Bayer Leverkusen.
Inter Milan booked their place in the Europa League semi-finals with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Bayer Leverkusen on Monday.
But they could be forced to head into the next week’s crucial match without one of their key players, Alexis Sanchez.
Sanchez, who came off the bench a few minutes after the hour-mark, was seen carrying a discomfort in his right leg late in the match. He had to receive treatment as heavy strapping was required on his right leg before completing the match.
Inter confirmed the Chilean forward’s injury post-match via a post on their official Twitter account, notifying that he has sustained a ‘muscle strain in his right leg.’
The 31-year old, who recently completed a permanent move from Manchester United, has had a tough debut season at San Siro with fitness issues keeping him on the sidelines for a prolonged time.
However, he has been able to rediscover his lost form, scoring 10 goals and registering 4 assists in 31 matches across all competitions.
