Maurizio Sarri has some serious concerns as to the extent of the injury sustained by Merih Demiral in the clash between AS Roma and Juventus.

Despite the 1-2 win over Roma for the Bianconerri, manager Maurizio Sarri is concerned.

The victory takes his team back to the top of Serie A two points clear of closest rivals Inter. The side from Milan only managed a 1-1 Atalanta.

However, as happy as Sarri is with the result, he is equally concerned about the injury that saw Demiral stretchered off in the 20th minute.

The young Turkish defender is a prodigious talent and was being slowly integrated into the first team.

Tonight’s game was only his fifth appearance of the season. He was having a great game, after giving his side the lead in the 3rd minute.

But, when he lept for the ball, winning a header in the process landed heavily.

The initial diagnosis is a sprain. But in an interview after the match reported by Football Italia, Sarri explains the player is enduring some concerning sensations.

He said:

“Demiral has a sprain and we won’t know any more until tomorrow morning.”

“However, the sensation we have is that it might be a serious injury.”

He was pictured after the game leaving on crutches.
