Miralem Pjanic will continue to perform at his best level for Juventus for as long as he stays at the club, assures Maurizio Sarri.
On Monday, FC Barcelona announced that they have completed the signing of Miralem Pjanic from Juventus.
The transfer is worth €65 million and will see Arthur Melo move in the other direction. As for Arthur, Juve have agreed to pay Barca €72 million in what is an exchange plus cash deal.
Both the Catalans and the Bianconeri are in a crucial stage in their respective title races. The former, while currently trailing behind Real Madrid, are pushing for their third consecutive La Liga. The latter, on the other hand, are on course to secure their ninth straight Serie A title.
And the timing of the transfer announcements of the two midfielders is expected to pose a threat to each teams’ title bids.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the match against Genoa, however, Maurizio Sarri dismissed any concerns over Pjanic’s professionalism.
“Pjanic loves to play football. He’s a fine professional and an intelligent man,” said Sarri [via Football Italia].
“So, I never even considered the possibility he might not give us 110 percent for the rest of the season.
“I have a lot of important games over the next two months. So I can’t be using up energy on the transfer market. We should get people accustomed to talking about football again.”
