Ahead of the crucial match between Manchester City and Chelsea, manager Maurizio Sarri explained why Higuain and Hazard connect so much.
On the last match Chelsea played in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge, both Gonzalo Higuain and Eden Hazard scored a brace after following Maurizio Sarri’s orders.
The Italian manager needed a striker who could connect better with his more creative players, he never really felt that Alvaro Morata was that player and that’s why he never trusted the Spaniard.
With Gonzalo Higuain things are very different, Sarri already knows the Argentine from his time at Napoli and he knows exactly the type of players who can be around the striker in order to get the best results for the team.
At times during this season, Sarri already explained that Eden Hazard felt a little isolated from the rest of the players up front but he expects that this can change with Gonzalo Higuain playing beside him.
Granted, the last match Chelsea played was against the club that is currently in the relegation area, facing City at the Etihad Stadium will be a very different experience for both players but the Italian manager has high hopes for this duo.
Loving the partnership already, hopefully many more beautiful moments to come for the rest of the season.

“As you have seen in the last match, Eden passed the ball to Gonzalo very often,” Sarri told reporters via Four Four Two.
“They speak the same language with the ball. So I think that Gonzalo will be important for us.”
“He needs confidence, first of all. He needs a very good relationship with the coach and his team-mates.”
“Sometimes he needs a message from the coach in the press conference. We will see in the future.”
“At the moment, he is really very determined. In my first season in Naples, he arrived late for the training camp,” Sarri added of Higuain.
“He missed the penalty in his last Serie A match, he had missed a penalty in the Copa America final but he reacted really very well.”
“He played an exceptional season. He is able to react really well despite the difficulties.”
“At the moment, he is really very keen. He can play a really good season, in the last part of the season.”
“Mentally, I think that we’re the same. I think that Gonzalo is suitable for my football. So the feeling is really fantastic, it is a football feeling.”

Higuain didn’t only play his best football when he was at Napoli, he also had some very impressive performances at Real Madrid and kept proving that he understood the most creative players better than other strikers.
There were even times when he played alongside Karim Benzema and he did a great job because the Frenchman tends to play outside the box quite often.
When he played at Napoli, Lorenzo Insigne and Marek Hamsik were his best companions, the same with Paulo Dybala when he played at Juventus for a couple of seasons.
We could easily argue that Eden Hazard actually is the most talented winger he will ever play with, which is something that has everybody at Chelsea quite thrilled for.
We could very well be at the beginning of a very rewarding partnership between two great players, this might be the club that ‘Pipita’ Higuain had been looking for his whole career.
We will see how they play on Sunday when they visit Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, anything can happen in a game of this nature.
