As the Italian nears a long awaited move to Juventus, Mauro Icardi could be set to join Sarri as the Argentine looks for a way out of Intenazionale.
Maurizio Sarri is nearing an exit from Chelsea and the Italian wants Inter striker, Mauro Icardi as his first signing. The former Napoli manager is the favourite to land the managerial role at Juventus.
Since Massimiliano Allegri resigned at the end of last season, Sarri has been constantly linked with a return to Italian football. Currently under contract at Chelsea, Sarri is also keen on going back to his homeland. Despite winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League, Sarri hasn’t been able to win over the club’s fans.
And Juventus are keen on ending his English misery. The Old Lady sees Sarri as the man to guide them to European conquests in the future.
And it appears that Sarri wants to snap up Mauro Icardi as soon as he is announced as the club’s new manager. However, the move would depend on Paulo Dybala. The Argentine is clearly unsettled at the Juventus Stadium and needs to leave for Icardi to come to Turin.
The forward has been hotly linked with moves to Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Manchester City. However, no progress has been reported so far. And the Daily Mail claims that Mauro Icardo is the only striking option Sarri needs at the club next season.
Juventus sporting director, Fabio Paratici has claimed the Dybala will not be allowed to leave. But then again, things can always change.
He said: ‘He is one of our players, we have great confidence in him. The investment we made four years ago and the renewal of his contract is proof of this.
‘Dybala is a Juventus player, a very important player for us.’
Regardless, Icardi is also not sure if he should continue at Inter. Antonio Conte wants a different type of striker at the club which could mean that Icardi’s days are numbered.
