Maurizio Sarri is still unsure about his squad selection ahead of Juve’s final Serie A game. He also dropped fitness updates on star duo Ronaldo and Dybala.
Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri is still yet to make a decision about his side’s squad list ahead of their concluding Serie A fixture for the campaign.
With the Scudetto already in the bag, the gaffer suggested he could consider rotating his squad heavily with a number of U-23 players in the mix.
Sarri already has his mind on the Champions League fixture and wants to keep his best players fresh ahead of their return leg against Lyon. Juventus trail by a goal down and must be dominant from start to finish to stand a chance of turning the tie around.
Asked whether he has chosen his team for Juve’s final game against Roma on Saturday, the 61-year-old chose to remain coy in his answer.
“Who will play tomorrow? We’ll assess it today and tomorrow morning, depending on who needs to rest and who is fit to play.” Sarri said to the club’s official website.
“Between tomorrow and Friday there will be a big difference in terms of mentality. We’ll need to be good at recovering all energies possible. Tomorrow will play who is fit and we’ll try to make it a day of celebration.”
” I can see two light-hearted teams tomorrow evening, with clear heads: a beautiful game can come out of it.”
Many claimed Cristiano Ronaldo should have been given a rest after Juve lost on their last outing to Cagliari. Sarri had to publicly defend his reason for playing the Portuguese. Paulo Dybala is still recovering from injury after he was ruled out with a thigh strain on Monday but he could well be set to return ahead of time and perhaps feature against Lyon in the Champions League.
“Let’s see how Cristiano feels for tomorrow, he’s one of the players that played the most in the entire season. With regards to Aaron Ramsey, might be back with the team today and there are good possibilities that he plays in the UCL. Dybala is with the medical staff, everything is proceeding well, but I don’t know when he’ll be back with the group.”
