The team’s head of sport confirmed that manager Domenico Tedesco is still the team’s coach at least for the match against Manchester City.

Schalke’s bad run in the German Bundesliga continues after they were defeated 4-2 by Werder Bremen in yesterday’s fixture.

But for the head of sport Jochen Schneider, the royal blues have shown improvement and Domenico Tedesco will coach the team against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League next week.

“Obviously we need the points, as they are the only thing that counts at the end of the day,” Schneider said to the club’s official website.

“We wanted to see an on-pitch improvement and we did in patches today. Our body language was a lot better and we attacked with a lot more promise.”

“It would have been nice to have improved even more though, as that would have resulted in some points, “he added.

“The second goal took the wind out of our sails a little bit and it was hard for the team after that.”

Gotze was intimidated by Klopp when they met for the first time

Mario Gotze and Jurgen Klopp met for the first time at Borussia Dortmund, and the German midfielder explains how this was.

“In our situation like ours right now, it can be difficult to come back in games as you don’t have that self-confidence,” analysed Schneider.

“We can gain a lot of confidence from the way we played up until 2-1. If we carry on like that, and the players coming back from injury can continue to make an impact, then I’m sure we can start taking points again.”

Schalke is currently in the 14th position of the table with 23 points, after only six wins in 24 matches, five draws and 14 defeats.
