Peter Schmeichel has praised Daniel James for his performance against Manchester City.

Marcus Rahsford and Anthony Martial grabbed all the headlines as Man United beat Man City at the Etihad. Manchester United defenders also received plaudits for keeping City at bay.

But Peter Schmeichel has insisted that David James remained away from the spotlight despite putting on a sublime performance. The Welshman posed a constant threat to Ederson with his runs and shots.

Schmeichel, who won numerous accolades with the Red Devils during his time, highlighted James’ impact in the Manchester derby while analyzing his counterattacks and connection with his teammates.

“Someone who is not going to grab the headlines is Daniel James,” Schmeichel said as per Metro.

“Today he was unbelievable, chasing every ball, he was in every counter-attack and, at the same time, he was doubling up with [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka on the right-hand side,” he added.

“Ryan [Giggs] must be so happy to see one of his players perform so well. He’s played every single game this season and he’s still playing well.

“That’s a fantastic signing and he played fantastic today.”

Daniel James joined Manchester United this season from Swansea City. The 22-year old has been involved in seven goals this season by scoring three and setting up four.
