Sergio Ramos the best sportsman award in the Men’s category in the Siete Estrellas sports awards gala at the Real Casa de Correos.
The Real Madrid captain gave a short speech as quoted by AS before speaking to the media:
“It’s an honour for me to accept this award when something is about representing values, it has a special meaning, that’s something that will always be deep inside me. I am Andalucian and a Sevillano, but Madrid accepted me 13 years ago and made me feel at home.
“And with Real Madrid, I have always represented this city, Madrid with honesty. While there are a lot of people representing Atlético here today, Hala Madrid!”.
Ramos also discussed his career and his 100 goals saying:
“Goals are what the fans see and recognize but our job as defenders is also to try and avoid conceding them. I’ve been lucky enough to score some very important goals which have won us trophies and that figure, 100, is a number to bear in mind”.
When asked about being considered as one of the top scorers, he added:
“Those decisions don’t depend on us, but in training, I do score quite a few”.
