Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos was pleased to wrap up 2018 in style with a deserved Club World Cup title
Los Blancos won the competition for a third consecutive year, and a record fourth in total, on Saturday evening in Abu Dhabi with a 4-1 win over local side Al Ain in the final.
And Ramos, who headed in Real’s third goal from Luka Modric’s corner-kick, insists they can never be ruled out as they enter 2019 hoping to carry on with their new-found form.
“This is the third consecutive Club World Cup and that’s brilliant,” Ramos told the club website.
“We wanted to round the year off with a title and we did just that. We scored several goals.
“We deserved this title. We are still in every competition and we’re doing well. We got a title and that should not be forgotten.”
“Real Madrid can never be ruled out, this season we will continue to fight for our goals. Now it’s time to relax and spend some time with the family on holiday”.
Modric and Marcos Llorente were also on target with Al Ain’s Yahya Nader’s own goal being Real’s fourth of the final.
