Quique Setien suggests Lionel Messi will be available for the upcoming Champions League semi-final showdown against Bayern Munich.
Lionel Messi scored a wonder goal to double FC Barcelona’s lead against Napoli in the second leg of the Champions League Last 16 tie on Saturday.
Luis Suarez then scored from the spot to put the game to bed but just prior to that goal, Barca experienced a huge scare, probably even bigger than the fear of Napoli overturning the tie.
Messi came tumbling down in the box following a reckless challenge from Kalidou Koulibaly. Though the tackle was accidental, it inflicted huge damage on the Argentine, who was quite visibly in great pain due to the kick on his calf.
It was feared that the six-time Ballon d’Or winner will miss out on the crucial tie against Bayern Munich. However, Quique Setien recently played down those concerns.
“He had some pain, but there shouldn’t be a problem, the Barca boss said, according to the Independent.
“He was fine. We will analyze it, but there won’t be a problem.”
Setien admits that the Champions League semi-finals will be ‘complicated’ given the monumental strength of their opponents but suggests his side are capable enough to withstand them.
He added: “The game against Bayern will be complicated, but we are also a great team.”
