The Head Coach Real Betis, Quique Setien has admitted it didn’t occur to him his side would take four points off Milan in the Europa League group, however, he adds that they were superior overall.
Suso’s free kick equalized an early Giovani Lo Celso strike for the 1-1 result. As Betis had a 2-1 victory at San Siro. A win that keeps the Spaniards a point clear of Milan and Olympiacos atop the group.
“I think we put in a good performance,” said Setien in his Press conference via Football Italia.
“It was an excellent first half, their substitutions hurt us in the second, but we re-organized and I don’t think we were ultimately under that much pressure.
“We deserved to score more than one goal in the first half and wasted at least another couple, but the strong 20-25 minutes Milan had just recharged our batteries. We tried to win the game and had more chances late on with Tello and Junior.
“We’re satisfied with the draw, because it keeps us in first place and allows us to be optimistic going into the final two matches. When the group was drawn up, it was difficult to imagine Betis would take four points off Milan.
“We were superior to Milan during this group stage, now we face an Olympiacos side that has won 19 out of its last 22 domestic titles, so we must be wary. If they are on a good day, then they can beat us.”
