Jose Maria Bartomeu has dropped some hints at least for the immediate Barcelona future of Quique Setien, Xavi, and of course Lionel Messi.
All the recent talk at Barcelona seems to be all about the future. Lionel Messi, Quique Setien, Bartomeu, and even Xavi.
Barcelona without Lionel Messi is like fish without chips.
As for Bartomeu and Setien, the jury is still out but the president is backing his current boss for the time being at least.
Speaking to RAC1 he said:
“Setien will continue, obviously.”
“I do not regret Valverde’s change. The team needed a boost. Setien knows our DNA, the model, and has brought new airs and new ideas.”
“The coaches are obviously subject to the results, but I am happy with the evolution of the team.”
Xavi will eventually come, he added:
“Xavi is a great coach who I am sure will one day come to Barca.”
And Messi and Barcelona cannot be separated, he concluded:
“He has a contract until 2021, normally we do not explain the conversations with the players but it is evident that we have an obligation to renew him.”
“Messi is the best player in the world.”
Bartomeu, Messi, and Setien are surely the catalysts for everything good and everything bad at the club. Do all the club’s problems on the field center around at least three of the above four?
