Sevilla boss Pablo Machin hailed his side’s incredible 3-0 win over Real Madrid and says the only regret is that it didn’t happen on a weekend so the party could last into the early hours
A brace from loan striker Andre Silva and another from Wissam Ben Yedder handed Sevilla a shock 3-0 first-half lead at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
After FIFA Player of the Year Luka Modric had a goal disallowed after the break for Real, the hosts would hold on to record a memorable win.
“It’s a night to enjoy and to remember. Those who do not beat Real Madrid many times will remember it, without a doubt. The crowd has enjoyed it since the first minute and until the end,” Machin told the club website.
“It was a night for the people of Seville to enjoy. (It is) a pity that it is not on a weekend so that the night can be extended.”
Sevilla will now hope to extend their three-game winning run away to Eibar on Saturday.
