The Manchester City legend says he would be “amazed” if Vincent Kompany was not to stay at the English Premier League club next season.

33-year-old Vincent Kompany‘s contract has finished with the end of the English Premier League season.

But after lifting back-to-back EPL trophies with the Citizens, the footballer might stay with Manchester City, at least according to club legend Shaun Goater.

“He is a leader, representing the club both home and abroad the right way and I would be amazed if he isn’t a player at the club next season,” Goater told Sky Sports.

“He still has the ability to play a number of games and we all know he won’t let anyone down if he is given another year or two.”

“It was the hardest and most satisfying Premier League title win ever,” Kompany said.

“Liverpool were exceptional this year and I don’t mean to rub it in – it is what it is – they didn’t deserve to be second this year.”

“But that only makes me that much more happy that we’ve been up against such a good team and when our backs were against the wall we kept finding the results,” he continued.

“This title is a combination of the staff, the group of players we have and the desire we have to overachieve, and it’s hard to over-achieve with a team as good as we have”

“I’m so happy for myself, the team and our fans,” the footballer concluded.
