Ukranian legend Andriy Shevchenko revealed that he thinks Eden Hazard actually has a shot at winning the Ballon d’Or playing for Chelsea.
Just this week we found out that Eden Hazard’s intentions to play for Real Madrid have a true motive, he wants to have a better shot at the Ballon d’Or and clearly doesn’t think he can do that at Chelsea, but former striker Andriy Shevchenko thinks otherwise.
The AC Milan legend and former Blue, actually won the award back in 2004 when he played for the Rossoneri.
‘Sheva’ was one of the last players from a non-Spanish club that got to win the award before Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi took complete control of all the individual prizes, a fact that makes Eden Hazard’s chances to win the award at Chelsea even more impossible.
Hazard knows his recent history and he is aware that winning this award will be more likely if he plays for one of the Spanish giants, but Shevchenko thinks differently because he is starting to see a shift in the game throughout Europe.
The Ukranian former striker thinks that the English clubs will get that notoriety again, he believes that one of the Top 5 squads in the Premier League will soon dominate European football and a new Ballon d’Or will come out from there.

Andriy Shevchenko who played for Chelsea and now works as a pundit for the DAZN network, explained the theory he has and placed all his chips on the Blues for winning many trophies in the upcoming years.
‘Sheva’ thinks that Hazard would make a grave mistake if he decided to leave the Blues now, because the London club will start being more successful than ever under Italian manager Maurizio Sarri.
“Why do attackers always get individual awards? Because they are responsible for finishing attacks,” said ‘Sheva’ to Goal.
“People like to see goals scored. Hazard is a phenomenal, fantastic player, but he wasn’t getting those 20-25 goals per season.”
“This season he already has eight, so he’s on the road to that number. He has every chance of winning the Ballon d’Or.”
“Chelsea have a very good team, an excellent range of players. The structure of play encouraged by Sarri suits the players at Chelsea very well. They like to play creative football.”
“The team has started well, showing both high-quality football and good results.”

Eden Hazard’s statistical chances to win the Ballon d’Or
You know how much we love football history here, we decided to give you an idea of just how possible it is for a Premier League player to win the Ballon d’Or by looking at the history of the award and how many players from English football have actually received it.
The most recent players are only two, Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008 with Manchester United, and Michael Owen in 2001 with Liverpool. Before that, we have to go back in time all the way to the sixties.
Two Manchester United players won the prestigious award back then. First of all, Scotsman Denis Law got the award in 1964, Sir Bobby Charlton won it in 1966 during the same year in which England won the World Cup, then Georgie Best got it in 1968 when Manchester United won that European Cup during that season.
Apart from that, the only other player from English football to get this award is Blackpool’s Stanley Matthews, who was the very first Ballon d’Or recipient in history.
Looking at these statistics, we could make an argument of Eden Hazard having a very difficult time winning the prize but nothing is impossible.
