Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has expressed his gratitude to Sampdoria for their role in his personal growth as a player.
At the moment, the only player in history to win the World Cup while a Sampdoria player remains Shkodran Mustafi.
The German defender sat down in an exclusive interview with the official Sampdoria website.
“The first few months in Genoa weren’t easy,” Mustafi told Samp’s official media channel.
“It was the first time that I’d lived in a country where I didn’t speak the language, but I really improved at Samp.
“Delio Rossi taught me how to play in a back three,” he said. “Mihajlovic, meanwhile, was the right coach at the right time. He made it possible for me to go to Brazil with the national team and become the only Samp player ever to win the World Cup. I’ll always be grateful to Sampdoria – I’ll support the club forever.”
