Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak will be a credible option for Chelsea who continue to be in search of a reliable shotstopper, according to Souness.
Jan Oblak was in inspired form for Atletico as his side snatched a memorable 3-2 win over holders Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night.
In a night where Red’s goalkeeper Adrian had a day to forget, the Slovenian was a colossus in goal.
Oblak made nine saves which is the most by any goalkeeper in a Champions League knockout match this season and the most by any at Anfield this campaign.
And with Frank Lampard reportedly chasing a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga, Souness claims Chelsea should go all out for Oblak.
He asked his colleagues in the studio as quoted by Football365: “Do we know how old he is? (to which they replied: 27) There you go Chelsea!
“Chelsea are looking for a goalkeeper. He’s been a top man for a long time.”
Atletico coach Diego Simeone also hailed Oblak for his outstanding performance, liking his influence to that of Messi for Barcelona.
In a season where Atletico have not been their best domestically, the 27-year-old has still impressed with 11 clean sheets to his name.
