Silva downplays Batshuayi links

Everton manager Marco Silva has played down speculation about a move for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi in the January window.

Reports have linked Batshuayi with a move to Everton, but the Toffees are believed to be only interested in a permanent move, claims that Marco Silva was quick to dismiss.

Everton spent big in the summer bringing in Kurt Zouma on loan from Chelsea and also spent £50m on Richarlison in the summer.

“We are aware of the market, we know what’s happened, but it is not something which is a priority for us,” Silva told Sky Sports.

Roberto Carlos was close to playing in England

The Real Madrid legend talked to three different English Premier League clubs, who wanted him to take his talent to England.

“Because we spent some money last summer it is not easy spending big, big money in all the markets.

“For us to do something at this moment it would mean another player would leave the club and it is not something in our mind.

“If you do something it because something has happened in our squad.”
