Diego Simeone insists his Atletico side would not underestimate RB Leipzig when both sides meet in the Champions League in August.
Diego Simeone is looking forward to a tough game when Atletico face RB Leipzig in the Champions League quarter-finals.
For the German side, it would be their first time in this stage of the competition.
For Simeone and Atletico, it marks yet another chance to end a voodoo that has seen them fail to win the Champions League. They have gotten inches close on several occassions.
Atletico might look the favourites on paper but the Colchoneros boss doesn’t think so.
Simeone thinks any side that gets to the quarter-finals has quality and thus should not be taken for granted.
“You’ll always meet good teams at the quarter-final stage and that’s the case here,” the Atletico boss said to UEFA’s website.
“They’ve been having a great season as they’ve competed right at the top of the Bundesliga.
“They play very offensively and with great speed.
“I’m sure it’ll be a competitive match, with each team having a 50 percent chance of progressing.
“We’ll prepare as well as we can.”
Simeone has insisted his side would take all their remaining games this season as ‘finals’.
