Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone was happy with his side’s display in their hard-fought 1-0 victory against Leganes at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday.

The win is a confidence booster ahead of their Champions League round of 16 second-leg against Juventus and still helped their La Liga title bid.

Nonetheless, Simeone praised the team’s display during the game against Leganes even though it wasn’t a vintage performance.

“It is not easy to always win and we are competing well with fantastic players who play in various positions during a match,” he said after the game.

“It is our strength, that is where we feel strong. “The introduction of Saul, Lemar and Correa up top gave us vital speed.”

The win helped the Rojiblancos to keep up the pace with the Catalans who sealed a 3-1 win over Rayo Vallecano.

Dybala focused on Juventus career

Paulo Dybala has expressed his willingness to give his all to the success of Juventus suggesting the fans should focus on the sacrifices he...

“Barcelona have been, since December, having a typical Barcelona season – always winning,” he stated via Marca.

“We are doing what we can, intending to hold down our place in the league and to improve each match to remain motivated.

Simeone substituted talisman Antoine Griezmann at half time, and the Argentine says it was simply a technical move.

“I understood that he had given what he had to give this game.”

The French forward is expected to start the game in Turin as Atleti bid to wrap up the tie and seal qualification.
