Diego Simeone feels Atletico’s upcoming tie against Real Madrid is a must-win for his team.

In a match that involved a lot of controversies, heated events, disallowed goals, and a rather surprising result, Atletico Madrid edged out Barcelona 3-2 to proceed in the final of the Supercopa de Espana.

Earlier, Los Blancos also beat Valencia after producing a world-class performance in front of the King Abdullah Sports City which looked like somewhat of a home turf for them.

The two winners will now go head to head against each other on the coming weekend.

Ahead of the final, Diego Simeone hinted that Atletico Madrid were very much looking forward to the match as he considered it to be the most important one.

Speaking to the press, the Argentine praised his opponents for the talent they possess but claimed that they are planning on ways to upset them.

“There isn’t a more important game for Atlético de Madrid’s fans, players, directors, and coaches than this,” Simeone said as per AtleticoMadrid.com.

“We know Real Madrid very well. They have world-class players and a coach who’s a winner. Benzema, Bale and Hazard aren’t here but nothing changed. We’ll need to find ways to attack them and hurt them.

“I believe in my players. I seek to strengthen the club – which has done a great job since I arrived – and the players. You look at their faces and they want to improve,” Simeone added.

“All of this excites me and gives me energy. When I feel they’re in good shape, I fear nothing.”
